Georgia wins women's outdoor track and field title, Southern California, Texas A&M tie for men's title
👑 Georgia wins the women's team title
Georgia is the 2025 women's outdoor track and field team champions, winning their first title in program history. While it's the first title for the Bulldogs, it's the third title for head coach Caryl Smith-Gilbert, who previously won at Southern California in 2018 and 2021.
Georgia dominated the championship, clinching the title with three events remaining. Overall, the Bulldogs finished with 73 points, 26 more than second place Southern California.
The Aggies scored points in the following events in the win:
- 400 meters — 18 points —Aaliyah Butler, 1st place & Dejanea Oakley, 2nd place
- 400 meter hurdles — 6 points — Michelle Smith, 3rd place
- 4x400 relay — 10 points — Aaliyah Butler, Michelle Smith, Dejanea Oakley and Sydney Harris, 1st place
- High jump — 10 points — Elena Kulichenko, 1st place
- Triple jump — 3 points — Skylynn Townsend, 6th place
- Shot put — 3 points — Kelsie Murrell-Ross, 6th place

🏆 Fresno State's Cierra Jackson wins women's discus
Fresno State's Cierra Jackson won the women's discus title after an impressive first attempt. Jackson launched the discus a meet-record 65.82 meters. Even with faulting on her final four attempts, Jackson's first throw was enough to win the title.

👑 Men's co-champs crowned
Southern California and Texas A&M are the 2025 outdoor track & field co-national champions, each finishing with 41 points. It is the first time there are co-champs since 2013 (Florida, Texas A&M). Arkansas finished in third with 40 points.
The meet all came down to the 4x400 meter relay which USC entered in the lead with 40 points. Entering the race, only Southern California, Texas A&M and Arkansas had a chance to win the title. The Trojans scored one point and the Aggies scored eight points to secure the shared victory.
With the win, USC becomes the first team to sweep the indoor and outdoor titles since 2015. The Trojans ended an outdoor title drought that lasted since 1976 for their 26th overall outdoor title, the most in NCAA men's history. Remarkably, USC swept the titles with zero individual titles across indoor and outdoor seasons.
With the win, Texas A&M won it's fifth outdoor title. It's the 10th title for Aggie head coach Pat Henry, who had titles from his previous stop at LSU.

First women's individual champions crowned in Day 2

New Decathlon champion
Mississippi State's Peyton Bair completed a season-sweep of the combined events with a win in the decathlon. He had two decathlon collegiate records during the 10-event circuit. Bair set the decathlon 100 meter record in 10.25 seconds and the decathlon 400 meter record in 46.00 seconds — the fifth-fastest 400 meters in the history of the decathlon.

Semifinals/Prelims
Elsewhere, events on the track saw athletes competing for a spot in the championship finals. Here are some notable standouts:
- Two women ran 10.87 seconds in the 100 meters. Florida's Anthaya Charlton and South Carolina's JaMeesia Ford are now the No. 6 all-time collegiate performers.
- Ford also ran 21.98 in the 200 meters. She now becomes the fifth woman to ever break 22 seconds collegiately.
- LSU's Michaela Rose ran her fifth sub-1:59 800 meters — the most in collegiate history — when she ran a meet-record 1:58.95 in the semifinals.

Women's team scores
After six events, Georgia leads all women's teams with 26 total points. The Bulldogs were led by the field events today. 13 points came from the javelin as Manuela Rotundo finished second and Lianna Davidson finished fourth.10 points came from Stephanie Ratcliffe's win in the hammer. Three points came from Kelsie Murrell-Ross' sixth-place finish in the shot put.

Men's team scores
The decathlon was the only men's event to be scored on Thursday, so the top of the leaderboard remains the same with Minnesota in front with 23 points, followed by New Mexico and Florida at 18 points.
Kansas moved up to fourth thanks to two points in the decathlon. Mississippi State soared to 6th after Peyton Bair's decathlon win earned 10 points. A second-place finish from UC Santa Barbara's Brad Thomas scored eight points, moving UCSB into a tie for 10th place.

Action continues with a loaded slate of men's finals on Friday. However, action gets started at 2:45 p.m. ET/11:45 a.m. PT with the women's heptathlon which will see the first four of a seven-event gauntlet. The first field event is the discus at 5:15 p.m. ET/2:15 p.m. PT and then the action on the track starts at 8:02 p.m. ET/5:02 p.m. PT.

- Auburn tied the NCAA meet record at 37.97 seconds in the 4x100 meter relay.
- How deep is the 1500 meters this year? The collegiate record holder missed the final.
- In a year where everyone has been running sub-10 seconds in the 100 meters, only one athlete, Auburn's Kayinsola Ajayi, broke the barrier in 9.92 seconds. The cut-off for the final was 10.10 seconds.
🔥 Auburn ties 4x100m championship meet record
Auburn tied the 4x100 meter relay championship meet record at 37.97 seconds. Auburn's quartet by leg was Azeem Fahmi, Kayinsola Ajayi, Dario Matau and Makanakaishe Charamba. It's the third-fastest 4x100 in collegiate history.
The Tigers are the defending 4x100m relay champs from 2024. We'll see if they can defend their title — and possibly move into No. 1 all-time — on Friday in the final.

📊 Decathlon update
Mississippi State's Peyton Bair leads all decathletes after four events. The indoor combined events champion is going for a season-sweep. He's off to a good start, already setting a decathlon collegiate record in the 100 meters with a time of 10.25 seconds.
